A drum kit is made of several instruments.

A drum set is, in principle, a number of separate instruments that are combined into one common unit, which we call a drum set. Each drum and cymbal has its own name, which makes it easier to identify which part of the drum set we are talking about. The main parts of the kit:

  • Bass drum(kick drum).
  • Snare drum.
  • Tom(by the size of drum and sound height can be called “rack”, “high/small”, “medium” or by numbers in ascending order “1”, “2”).
  • Floortom(low tom).
  • Hi hat cymbals(consists of top and bottom cymbals).
  • Ride cymbal.
  • Crash cymbal.

Also included in the set are stands and a pedal for the bass drum and a drummer’s chair. Stands are appropriately named after the instrument that is placed on it.

The set can consist not only of the main components, but other types of cymbals not mentioned above, such as splash, china or various other drums, can also be used. Really, you can use absolutely anything in the kit that makes the kind of sound you like or need.
Of course, other drum kit configurations can be used. For example, use only one tom, or use two floor toms and so on. The sizes of the drums used may also vary. It is possible not to use toms or some cymbals at all. The fact that there are no strict limits, just what you like and what is convenient for you or what the music requires to be used used.
